On December 6 the Protea Old Age Club hosted an event for the elderly, when they invited senior members within various communities in Humansdorp to the Twisters Recreational Hall in Humansdorp, to share their plans for the New Year.
The newly-appointed management team for the Protea Old Age Club, led by chairperson, Matthys Brown, hosted the event which was well attended by the elderly throughout Humansdorp.
During the preliminary report, Brown stated that he is in not competition with anybody and that it was his “heartbeat” that instructed him to lead this vulnerable group of people, which is the beginning of new things for the old age club.
He further gave an oversight of his plans for 2024, and for the years ahead, but admitted that there were a lot of challenges within the club regarding accommodation and transportation for the elderly, to enable them to get to and from the service centre.
Brown expressed his commitment to their sponsors and to those who have supported the club.
The elderly who attended the function expressed their heartfelt thanks for the well-planned event.
The old age club will begin their duties on January 16, 2024.
