Q
Can glaucoma trigger macular degeneration?

I recently underwent my quarterly eye examination. One thing I asked about was macular degeneration since some members of my family are battling this painful eye disease. But 20 years I found out I have glaucoma. Can glaucoma trigger macular degeneration?

Hi there

Glaucoma affects the optic nerve of the eye, where as macula degeneration affects a different part of the eye. We need both the macula and optic nerve to have perfect vision. One disease does not lead to the other.
