With her toned body, flawless skin and luscious locks it’s easy to think this Australian Instagram
model’s life is close to being perfect.
But Alyce Crawford (27) shocked her more than 21 000
followers when she shared a photo on Instagram illustrating her hard battle with irritable
bowel syndrome (IBS) and revealed how the condition impacted on her daily life.
The 27-year-old, who’s been living with IBS for the past
three years, shared two photos showing how bloated her tummy gets even when she
follows a balanced lifestyle.
“Last night I wanted to enjoy some delicious guacamole
(which I haven't eaten in months), however avocado, garlic, and onion all affect
my IBS and my stomach bloated immediately,” Alyce wrote.
The model said she once phoned six restaurants in advance
to find which had food that wouldn’t upset her tummy.
“Although every restaurant we contacted tried to
accommodate me, none of them could. Situations like this takes the joy out of
doing something simple,” she said.
Even though IBS has left Alyce feeling overwhelmed at
times, she praised her boyfriend and other friends for being supportive of her
situation.
“Luckily for me, my friends and boyfriend are the best and
they completely understand my situation and love me anyway,” she said.
This isn’t the first time the Australian has opened up
about her condition. Last year the Instagrammer shared a side-by-side pic of
her stomach before and after the bloating.
“For the past three years I’ve suffered from IBS. The
symptom I suffer with specifically is
severe bloating.
“It began literally overnight while I was living in
America. I woke up one morning, my stomach was extremely bloated and I was
experiencing sharp stabbing pains,” she wrote.
The model encouraged people with the condition to remain
positive and resilient.
“One, you can feel upset or sorry for yourself and let that
negativity ruin your day/night/month; or two, you can pick yourself up, find a
way to turn the situation around as best you can and keep going!”
