They’ve been bullied and mocked all their lives because of their protruding teeth, and compared to dogs, rodents and rabbits. The sisters were so self-conscious they hid their mouths behind their hands and dreamt of smiling and laughing openly like other kids.
But 17-year-old quadruplets Thembeka, Thandeka, Thembisile and Thandazo Masango from Emalahleni in Mpumalanga are well on their way to having a whole new lease on life. They’ve been fitted with braces, thanks to Dr Kometsi Mokuele, who runs Sunset Dentistry in Kyalami, Johannesburg, and has offered the treatment to the girls for free.
