You'd never guess by looking at them that these women come from three different generations.

Lesley Maxwell from Melbourne, Australia, her daughter Vanessa Christofi and granddaughter Tia Christofi are often mistaken for sisters thanks to their youthful good looks.

“People are always surprised to learn that we are actually three totally different generations of a family," Lesley says.

The trio say they stay young by following a strict fitness routine.

Lesley (65) started exercising after suffering anxiety when she went through a divorce.

Working out improved her mental and physical health which encouraged her to enrol in a personal training course.

"I was inspired by seeing a fitness competition and curious as to how this look was attained. So, I started my fitness journey which became a passion of mine," says Lesley, who has won many accolades as a personal trainer and bodybuilder.

Her daughter and granddaughter were inspired when they saw the effects of her weight training and bodybuilding and decided to follow in her footsteps.

These days the three work out together a few times a week in routines prepared by Lesley.

“We always have a wonderful time together, chatting, having a laugh, and training,” she says.

“I’m so blessed to have such a lovely family.”

Although there's a 43-year age difference between them, Tia and her gran share many similar interests.

“We both lift weights and follow the same workout routine while dressed in similar apparel,” she says.

And whenever they're out together, they're mistaken for mother and daughter.

“People are taken aback when I correct them and tell them she is my grandmother,” Tia says.

Even when they're not at the gym, they tend to dress alike as they have a similar sense of style.

They also partake in photoshoots set up by Tia, which they both enjoy.

The women have become popular on social media, posting pictures of their workouts, outfits and lifestyles, but have received mixed reactions.

While some people admire Lesley for staying in shape, others say the fitness-loving matriarch is too old to be flaunting her body in a bikini.

It's done little to deter the women.

Tia says they will continue to exercise together and post about their workouts because it has strengthened their bond and inspires her to look her best.
