A dying mom’s final wish has come true.

Cat Janice (31), a singer from Washington DC who's battling sarcoma cancer [a rare malignant tumour], has released a song in the hope that lots of people will listen to it so the proceeds can be used to secure her seven-year-old son Loren’s future.

Dance You Outta My Head was released on 19 January and days later it reached the seventh spot on iTunes worldwide, even charting at number one in a few countries.

“I’m just honestly so blown away by everyone’s love and how they’ve supported me through this and shared this story," Cat says.

The singer, who's spending her last days at a hospice, has been documenting her daunting cancer battle on TikTok. On 10 January she informed her nearly 600 000 followers that things had taken a turn for the worst and she could no longer breathe or talk properly.

“Everyone knows that I've been battling cancer for a while and I wanted to put this song out, and just go stream it. I hope you like it. I don't know if I'm going to be around even when the song comes out, so let's just put it out," she added.

“My last joy would be if you pre-saved my song Dance You Outta My Head in my bio and streamed it because all proceeds go straight to my 7-year-old boy, who I’m leaving behind.”

Cat first realised she had a lump in her throat back in 2021 but didn’t give it much thought as she was recovering from Covid and her lymph nodes had been swollen.

“Fast-forward to March 2022. I was studying for an exam and when I'm anxious I kind of rub my neck and I noticed the lump was still there,” she explained in a TikTok video.

She noticed the lump had grown bigger and tougher.

After several tests a tumour was discovered.

Cat underwent surgery to remove the lump as well as chemotherapy and radiation and in July 2022 was declared cancer free.

The singer went back to making music but a year later, she was told that the cancer was back and had spread to her lungs.

Cat is relieved that now her son is a bit older, he's able to process what's happening to her.

“Now, he understands that Mommy is very ill and very much potentially not going to make it," she says.

She hopes her last song, which she's dedicated to her son, will have a big impact on everyone who hears it.

“My art is all I have to leave behind," Cat says.
