Meet the Italian man who has spent years transforming his body and hopes to be fully “mutant” in the next few years.

Nicolò Saverino (29) from Aprilia in Italy has garnered attention worldwide for his many jaw-dropping body modifications, including covering 70% of his body with tattoos and horns implanted into his head.

The full-time contortionist’s obsession with body modifications started when he was just 16 years old.

“I faced many problems growing up and had to overcome so many obstacles, which also led me to change my appearance,” he explains.

“My grandmother, who I call mom, and my grandfather raised me. My mother was not present in my life."

He says he found joy in expressing himself by making changes to his physical appearance.

“My friends and family support my modifications. They are happy for me, they love me for who I am.”

Nicolò proudly boasts a forked tongue and ear split, 13 piercings on his face, an eye tattoo and two horns implanted on the front of his head.

"I think I will also add other implants on my arms in the future," he says. “I design all my projects and don't take other people's ideas.”

After having his ear split, Nicolò kept the leftover pieces in a jar for display purposes.

“I only spend money on this because I like making changes to my body and love taking on new challenges," he says. “I see the beauty in horror. I don't like having points of reference or idols, I prefer to be original."

And Nicolò says he is far from done. He recently modified his ears to give them an elfin look.

“My favourite modifications are my elf ears and forked [split] tongue," he says.

He says he did the tongue and ear modifications himself, using surgical equipment standing in front of a mirror.

He admits he receives many negative comments and is often greeted with stares when he is out in public, but he refuses to let it affect him.

“There are also heavily offensive comments which are true insults, but I have learned to control myself and let it flow. Some people are too focused on taking the positivity of others away.”

He now hopes to cover 100% of his body with tattoos and encourages people to express themselves in whatever way they feel fit.

“Life can be warped and most of the time it can be tough,” Nicolò says.

“But it is worth living it. Be comfortable with yourself and be free to express yourself.

“You must never be afraid of finding yourself.”
