Baby monkey has caffeine overdose after stealing tourist’s coffee

In a perfect example of why theft is a bad idea, a baby monkey collapsed due to a caffeine overdose after stealing coffee from a tourist, Mirror.co.uk reports.

According to the Daily Mail, the cheeky crab-eating macaque or Macaca fascicularis leapt onto the tourist’s motorbike and sneakily slurped the hot brew.

But when it jumped from the bike in an attempt to make a dash for it, it collapsed and fell.

The amusing, but heartrending incident, which was shared on the Facebook page of a local community group, took place in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian district on Sunday.

Vets were quick to arrive on the scene to take the patient to the Raiwin pet hospital.

There they gave the six-month-old monkey a mixture of carbon and saline to wash the toxins from its body.

The poor rascal only woke up 10 hours later, International Business Times writes.

Once medics were confident it was stable it was allowed back into the care of its troop.
