Morgan Naude is barely heavier than Kwagga Smith, but the Lions have absolutely no qualms entrusting a crucial spot in their engine room to this pocket rocket of a loosehead.

To be fair, the men from Doornfontein probably never doubted the credentials of the 25-year-old prop - coming in at a compact 1.81m and 108kg - because they can do so safe in the knowledge Jimmy Stonehouse invariably knows when he has found dynamite in a small package.

Himself barely 1.75m, the Pumas' director of rugby and former provincial hooker embarked on a fine bodybuilding career - he was Mr South Africa in 2005 - before forging a reputation for identifying and harnessing rugby bargains.
