South African swimmer Lara van Niekerk is not looking to dwell on her World Aquatics Championships miss as she focuses on her primary goal - to make the squad that will go to the Paris Olympics next year.
Van Niekerk rose to prominence as an 18-year-old when she stunned Olympic champion Tatjana Schoenmaker in the 100m breaststroke at the SA Swimming Championships in Gqeberha last year.
Since then, Van Niekerk has been tipped for great things and more specifically as South Africa's next Olympic medallist.
