Young Africans are now experiencing a FIFA transfer embargo due to unpaid monies owed to former Kaizer Chiefs striker, Lazarous Kambole, but how would that effect transfer developments between Yanga's player Stephane Aziz Ki and PSL clubs?

This development may seem to complicate Orlando Pirates' reported interest to sign the Yanga SC attacking midfielder, but there appears to be a viable path forward for the Buccaneers to potentially secure the Burkina Faso international if they move ahead for a deal.

Siya sources familiar with the situation and close to Pirates have indicated that there is a path for Bucs to acquire the player as a free agent, given that his contract is set to expire in June this year.

"As things stand now, Pirates can still sign Aziz Ki at the end of the season. He will be a free agent and that would make him leave the club because he won't be contracted to them," said the Siya source.

"Do you remember what happened to Tebogo Pontsane when he joined Kaizer Chiefs from Royal AM? He joined as a free agent because Royal AM were also facing a ban. So, there is a chance that Pirates can sign him and they are not giving up on him," the source added.

A second Siya source stated that Pirates are in a favorable position because of the homework they have already done.

"The advantage to Pirates is that they are looking to offer him a pre-contract and if he knows that this is the chance to leave then he will also take it. Then that will give Pirates the chance to sign him even if his current team is on a FIFA transfer embargo," said the second Siya source.

"So, yes Pirates can still sign him even though Yanga are banned at the moment. The transfer can still happen even if it were not Pirates interested in him," the source observed.

The Siya crew had spoken to Aziz Ki's agent Zambro Traore recently who confirmed that his player is looking for a change, while he also added that Yanga SC is looking to renew his contract in Tanzania.

Traore had previously told Soccer Laduma that while there were talks from interested PSL clubs in his player, an official offer had not been made yet.

Though, that is expected to change soon if Aziz Ki doesn't renew his Yanga contract, then he can potentially join Pirates or any club as a free agent.
