It is official - students seeking admission to South African universities next year have set their sights on becoming teachers and health professionals, including medical doctors.
A News24 snap survey has found the Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree was the top choice for first-time students at six of 12 higher education institutions that provide figures.
Sol Plaatje University (SPU), North West University (NWU), Walter Sisulu University (WSU), the University of Venda (Univen), University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and University of Mpumalanga (UMP) received a combined total of 174 932 applications for the BEd degree.
