The Gauteng Department of Health has suspended five nurses from Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria pending an investigation into allegations of gross negligence.
Department spokesperson Motalatale Modiba said the suspension relates to an incident in which the nurses allegedly refused to assist a man who later died at the hospital.
The incident from last month was captured on video and widely circulated on social media platforms.
