A top United States official said stigma was still a sore point in SA's fight against HIV, despite treatment that had little side-effects and enabled a normal healthy life with a partner and children.
This was according to Dr John Blandford, the head of the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in South Africa.
He spoke on the telephone to News24 on World Aids Day on Friday, on the sidelines of a national commemoration event in Mandeni, about an hour-and-a-half outside Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal.
