A high court ruling, which labelled former president Jacob Zuma's private prosecution an abuse of power, would be rendered empty if actions emanating from the wrongful prosecution continued.

This was according to senior counsel lawyers representing senior State advocate Billy Downer and News24 specialist legal journalist Karyn Maughan.

Their legal teams were in the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg on Friday, where their application for an enforcement order was heard by Judges Gregory Kruger, Jacqui Henrique and Mokgere Masipa.
