The Gauteng education department is instituting disciplinary action against a teacher who allegedly told matric pupils he was taking them to a Career Day expo, but instead took them to an ActionSA meeting.

An educator, who is known as "Teacher Maluleke", from Villa Liza Secondary School in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni, and who is the Gauteng Disability Forum secretary for ActionSA, took about 65 Grade 12 pupils to the function at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in Illovo, Johannesburg, on 9 April.

Pupils were transported, for free, in a bus to GIBS and were also given food and ActionSA T-shirts to wear at the venue.
