After evading trackers for several days, the two buffaloes that were seen roaming along the R21 highway in Olifantsfontein on Gauteng's East Rand on Sunday have been tracked down to the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate.
Chief operating officer Waal de Waal said the buffaloes were found just after 03:00 on Tuesday with the help of forward-looking infrared (FLIR) cameras fitted on Bidvest Protea Coin's helicopters.
"We are just waiting for the OR Tambo International Airport to give us a flying spot so that we can go and dart them. We are planning [to do so] later this afternoon," De Waal added.
