Anti-smoking advocates are calling for more robust interventions to fight underage vaping as an alarming number of pupils are turning to the fad for stress relief.
As pupils prepare for their year-end exams, the Vapour Products Association of South Africa (VPASA) has raised concerns about several pupils seeking refuge in their products from the relentless stress that exams bring.
The National Council Against Smoking's Dr Sharon Nyatsanza said e-cigarettes were harmful to people's health regardless of their age, and had been linked to severe health conditions, including cancers, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, chest pains and mouth ulcers.
