Humewood SAPS arrested a 23-year-old suspect after Mziwenene Tinza (28), a student at Nelson Mandela Bay University, was fatally stabbed, allegedly by a fellow student at the same university on September 22, in Central, Gqeberha.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 23:30, Tinza and the 23-year-old suspect were at a student accommodation in University Way, Central when they were embroiled in an argument that later turned physical.
“Mziwenene was fatally stabbed in the chest,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
“The suspect fled the scene, however, he handed himself over at SAPS Humewood on September 23.”
Janse Van Rensburg said that the suspect is being detained on a charge of murder and will appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate Court on September 26.
