The founder of the Sinovuyo Traditional Dancers from the Nkondlo locality in Ngcobo, Pumeza Busakwe, says that she started this group with the aim of keeping youth and young children away from the streets.
She started this group in 2012 after she noticed that most of the young people were getting involved in drugs, alcohol and teen pregnancies.
“In this group both genders are participating, because we want boys to respect girls and to know that they should protect them instead of threating them like their victims.
“We are also promoting education because they should know that in order for them to be successful in life they should be educated,” said Busakwe.
According to her, they also took part in lot of events including South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMAs) and Isingqi Sakwantu Cultural Festival in Port St Johns.
Busakwe said that they appeal to community members who are hosting their events to hire them so that they can entertain their audience.
