The movement of drugs in the Sarah Baartman District was interrupted by members of the Humansdorp Crime Prevention Unit that was out on patrol along the R102 on April 27.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Marius McCarthy, at about 13:30 on April 27, members attached to the Humansdorp Crime Prevention Unit were patrolling on the R102 when they received information that a white Hyundai vehicle was travelling towards Humansdorp transporting drugs.
He said that the members spotted a white Hyundai and tried to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle did not stop, and police pursued the vehicle with the assistance of the Community Service Centre.
“Two suspects jumped from the moving vehicle near Boskloof, and the vehicle went off the road as two more suspects jumped out of the vehicle. The members managed to arrest all four suspects and upon searching the vehicle, two bags containing 1 600 Mandrax tablets were found with an estimated street value of about R96 000,” said McCarthy.
He said that the suspects are due to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate Court on April 29.
Sarah Baartman District Commissioner Major General Zolani Xawuka applauded the members involved for the excellent work done in ensuring that drugs are confiscated.
