The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) will be launching their Face-to-Face Support Group for Depression and Anxiety on June 1, in Somerset East.

The idea for a depression and anxiety support group was sparked by support group leader, Gail Dore who noticed the community’s need for mental health support.

As Somerset East and the surrounding towns have very limited access to mental health care services, Dore said it makes it difficult for residents to find the help they need.

For this reason, she aimed to create a safe place of compassion and understanding that is free and accessible to all in the area.

“Attending regular support groups is a wonderful way for individuals to come together and offer encouragement to each other on their mental health journey,” said Dore.

The Face-to-Face Support Group for Depression and Anxiety will take place from 18:30 to 19:30 on the first and third Thursday of every month at the Summer Serenity Medical Center, 6 End Street, Somerset East.

For more information contact Gail Dore 042 243 0180 (10:00 to 18:00) or WhatsApp her on 083 947 9487.

For more information about other support groups available visit www.sadag.org or call 0800 21 22 23.
