Getting your flu shot may do more than just protect you against the influenza virus - it is also partly protective against some of the most severe effects of Covid-19, according to an extensive new analysis presented online at the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) this month. 

The team behind the research analysed patient data from around the world and found that the annual flu shot reduced the risk of stroke, sepsis, and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with Covid infection, according to a news release.

Moreover, the data suggested that these patients were also less likely to end up in the emergency room (ER) and be admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
