There's a bit of a debate on when porn became a thing. Since the word 'pornography' has Greek roots, some say porn has been around since the Ancient Greeks. Others classify porn as we know it, in stills and motion pictures, as existing since the 1920s. But this depends on what you view as porn, what you view as art and where you find the line.

What isn't up for debate is that most modern porn is made for the male gaze and is often derogatory to women and other marginalised groups. Many people are uncomfortable going to popular porn websites and viewing that content, not just because of the situations portrayed and the way women/ non-cishet male people are treated but because many of the actors in these films are exploited, underpaid or abused.
