Chinese brands Jaecoo and Omoda presented several new models at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. One such vehicle is the J6, and it has the potential to become an overnight success when it arrives here in 2025.
Jaecoo only recently entered the fray in South Africa (April 2024) with the introduction of the J7 SUV, and even though no date has yet been confirmed, the all-electric J6 will be arriving on local shores in due course. There's much to like about the SA-bound SUV, known as the iCar 03 in China.
There's no indication of pricing yet, but there is a good chunk of mechanical specifics to explore. Currently, there are two powertrain configurations for the J6 - a single and dual motor. The single motor makes 135kW and 184Nm, while the dual motor (with four-wheel drive) offers outputs of 205kW and 279Nm with a claimed sprint time from zero to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds. The driving range is estimated to be as much as 500km.
