Special deals on Peter Stuyvesant cigarettes spark surprise

In what has come as a surprise to some local smokers, premium cigarette brands are now available for cheaper as part of special deals at their local retailers.  

Peter Stuyvesant, a premium brand of global cigarette multinational British American Tobacco (BAT), is currently selling at discounted prices at both Pick n Pay and Checkers.

At Checkers, two packets of Peter Stuyvesant now cost R84, while a single packet on its own cost R45.99. At Pick n Pay, two packets together also cost R84, while one packet on its own cost R46.
