Consumer goods group AVI - whose interests span biscuits, fish, beverages and footwear - has warned consumers haven't fully felt the costs for food producers of load shedding. Meanwhile, its benefits from the government's recent relief efforts in the form of a refund on the diesel levy are insignificant.
AVI - owner of Five Roses, Bakers and I&J - reported a marginal increase in profits for its half-year to end-December, with a strong performance by its fashion business helping to offset pressure in its fishing division, as well as volume falls among much of its value-added food products.
