Danone’s new DanPro tub yogurt and drinking yogurt was created for people with active lifestyles. But don’t assume they taste any less than decadent; the tub yogurts taste like an awesome sin.
Can we talk about the thickness of these babies. OMG!
Oh, before I go on, let me say that the company is not paying for this taste test. They just delivered the goods to the office and now I must state what I think of the products.
The yogurts contain 10g to 20g of protein per serving, and the brand’s claim is that, for those aiming to build muscle, DanPro is a convenient source of concentrated protein, with 69% whey in each bottle – the equivalent of three eggs.
The milk protein in the product is said to accelerate recovery from muscle-damaging exercise, increase glycogen replenishment, aid hydration and improve muscle strength, when eaten after exercise.
I was also impressed that the products contain no artificial sweeteners, are relatively low in sugar (about 9.5g per tub) and are available in low or medium fat.
The tub yogurt is like double cream and I suspect the added whey protein is the reason. They come in medium fat plain or vanilla, and low fat strawberry, mango & peach, and blueberry.
I am a fitness fanatic who struggles to eat just before or, worse, after a workout, so I didn’t try these yogurts in conjunction with my workouts.
I must admit, I liked the thick yogurt in the tubs more than the drinkable option in the bottles.
This has nothing to do with the brand, just that drinkable yogurts have never been my thing.
The drinkable option is available in low fat 300ml bottles of strawberry, banana or vanilla. They are less sweet than most drinking yogurts I have tasted.
The yogurts where first introduced in the US and Australia and are now available in Mzansi at a very cost-effective price.
If you are looking for a placeholder meal, they will be worth your while.
