Friends and family bade musician Mandla ‘Mampintsha’ Maphumulo his final farewell at a funeral service at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban on Friday. The funeral was set to be a celebration of his life.

The qgom music pioneer and Durban kwaito artist had been lauded for making the niche music genre prominent and making the country dance throughout his career.

At his memorial service, which was held at the eThekwini Community Church in Durban on Thursday, his sister Khethiwe Khubeka encouraged his fans to show up in the best attires and wear sunglasses to send the muso off in style.

"We thank you so much for your presence here today. We know very well that Mandla was loved because of you guys here today."

She also added:

I hope that tomorrow, we will all come in numbers. I hope that tomorrow, we will all look more stylish. I also did my best today for Shimora... You guys know him well when he says don’t forget to wear your shades because if you do tomorrow, I will not know what you will be doing.
