Parts of South Africa are feeling the full might of the winter season after another cold front hit our shores this week and continues to sweep through the country.
The SA Weather Service warned on Wednesday that the current cold snap will continue well into the weekend.
Central parts of the country, mainly the southern Drakensberg mountains in the Eastern Cape and the land-locked mountain kingdom of Lesotho, saw snowfall of between 5cm and 15cm this week.
There was also rainfall and very cold temperatures in north eastern KwaZulu-Natal. The weather service also said the Eastern Cape should be alert for localised flooding of roads and settlements due to the heavy rains on Tuesday.
In the Free State, where temperatures dropped to -1°C overnight, residents were advised to stay warm and provide shelter for livestock in high-lying farming communities.
