Eight young boys from Mozambique have recounted to social workers the false promises that led them to South Africa, expecting holiday jobs to afford designer sneakers and smartphones.

Instead, they found themselves imprisoned in a factory in Nigel, southeast of Johannesburg, forced into unpaid labour day and night.
