Gum nerves

my dentist took out a tooth in my palate,but now my front teeth are causing problems as i cannot eat any hot or cold stuff and i suffer from constant pain. today i went back to him and he said he might have hurt one of my nerves,but its too soon to tell should check once im fully recovered. when hurting the gum nerve, isit very serious? and what will then happen?

The nerve usually heals well after an extraction. Because the tooth was in the palate it was most likely a traumatic extraction with the root lying close to the nerve. This can sometimes take a few weeks to settle.
