Grab the tissues! These selfless medics fulfilling the wishes of this dying dad will have you in tears.
Chris Shaw from Perth in Australia was dying of an aggressive form of stomach cancer. Ambulance personnel were driving Chris home from the hospital to die when he requested to see the beach one last time, Mirror reports.
They complied and took the dad of four on a detour to his beloved Burns Beach in Perth.
Sadly, Chris died on 31 August 2018.
Now, a year after his passing, his wife, Kylie Shaw, has said she’s grateful to the ambulance personnel, Jade McGlew and Jesse Roulston’s, for their kind gesture, Perth Now reports.
“The tiniest gesture . . . It’s not financial, it’s not monetary, it’s not anything in your hand . . . it was just one quick question and out in the fresh air for 20 minutes,” Kylie said in her first interview since her husband’s death.
“They were our angels for the day. They really did become our angels – and for that we’ll be eternally grateful.
“Seeing the ocean, feeling the sun, the breeze . . . endless. Nothing would ever be able to replace that . . . ever.”
Jade McGlew says she’s glad that she was able to witness the moment.
“Seeing the family again [since that day] has really come back and shown us how important it was to them. I’m very grateful that we were a part of it,” Jade says.
Chris, who battled cancer for 14 months, underwent seven rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, The Sun reports.
“RIP Shawry – we love and miss you every day!” Kylie wrote on Facebook.
