Q
Is non hodgkins lymphoma similar to leukemia?

Since the weed killer Roundup has been linked to non Hodgkins lymphoma and my nephew has battled leukemia for 16 years it got me wondering if the two cancers are somehow "cousins" to each other. Are they and have other deadly cancers been linked to Roundup and other glyphosate weed killers? (I would suspect that's the case.)

Dear Greg,

A recent update of a very large study of diseases of pesticide applicators identified a possible association between glyphosate use and acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). The study, called the Agricultural Health Study (AHS), “found some evidence of a possible association between glyphosate use and AML,” warning that “Given the prevalence of use of this herbicide worldwide, expeditious efforts to replicate these findings are warranted”. The increase risk of AML was over 2-fold higher in highest exposed applicators compared with the never exposed applicators.
