Q
Duration of time for a trial with one antihistamine before trying the next

How long should i trial one antihistamine before trying another? ie is there a period of time that the antihistamine needs to settle in the blood/body before it can be effective for eg 2 weeks? I have been on the following medication. 1. i was taking 2 x fexo and montelukast at night with 2 x texa (tried for 3 weeks) with no success. 2. Then swopped the texa for desloratadine and after 2 weeks appeared to have lesser itch and lesser hives. 3. Then swopped the desloratadine to levocetirizine (for less than a week) and appeared to have more hives as previously minimal hives with desloratadine. 4. So last night, i swopped to desloratadine again and woke up with even more hives as compared to the levocetirizine (which surprised me as the desloratadine eventually worked well after 2 weeks). Please advise which ones i should try and for how long with the fexo? Thank you

Managing Chronic Urticaria can be a management "nightmare". Generally it is controlled with high dosages of any antihistamines, but occasionally to get control you may need to go onto a 7 day course of oral Cortisone (Prednisone) before considering Xolair.
