What is the rights of my child regarding his education in a mainstream school and his ADHD diagnosis? Is there any support system available via the education depoartment, please?

A
Your son should be able to attend mainstream school and the Department of Education should be providing the necessary learner support (classroom strategies, remedial intervention, etc. through the school based support team). However, sometimes it is in a child's best interest - if he/she is not coping in bigger classes or have other specific educational support needs - to attend a school with additional support and smaller classes. Some of these support schools are part of the Dept of Education, and some private.
