California graphic designer Ruby Perman has been making waves by taking celebrity red carpet looks and recreating them using everything from cherries to Cheerios.

She starts off by creating a miniature cut-out of her celeb of choice and then she styles them using everyday foods – so that’s how Rihanna ended up wearing pawpaw, Jennifer Lopez  sprigs of rosemary while Ariane Grande got styled using avocados.

The mother-of-two has been delighting her 17 000 Instagram followers with her creations, including one of songstress Beyoncé dressed in pancakes and as well as K-pop group Black Pink Official in Ramen noodles.

Ruby came up with the innovative idea when she was trying to create an Instagram profile that would stand out from the crowd.

“My idea was to cut out a photo of myself and I found a mango so I proceeded to style myself in a mango dress,” she explained to Manila Bulletin Lifestyle.

“I had so much fun making it, and now I take requests from my followers as well as brand collaborations and custom art.”

The mother-of-two has always been a dedicated follower of fashion and loves seeing what celebs wear on the red carpet.

Ruby says creating her delicious artworks is easy – but what she really struggles with is deciding what to do with them once she’s photographed them and shared her masterpieces on Instagram.

“I create edible art so the hardest part of being a food stylist is eating the creation after I style the plate,” she says.

“I styled Ariana Grande in an avocado gown, and after I took photos I mashed it up and made guacamole!” Check out more of Ruby’s red carpet plates.
