Sometimes a book lands in your hands at just the right moment. This one arrived just a few months after my eight-year-old daughter started taking medication for ADHD. Although we’d discussed the matter with her at length it was clear that she didn’t quite understand - it bugged her that she’s “different” to her friends.
But after reading this book she was beaming. Using delightful illustrations of dogs, it shows some common traits of ADHD – being restless and easily distracted, often losing things and getting into trouble for breaking things.
My daughter was giggling as she identified with them. The thing she really loved was how the book shows that famous people like Leonardo da Vinci and Alexander Graham Bell may have had ADHD and that instead of holding them back it might actually have been their superpower, allowing them to achieve their goals.
