She’s lived and worked among cosmetically enhanced people pretty much all her life but Shannen Doherty says she’s finally had enough of the quest for artificial eternal youth.

Hitting out at fellow actresses for using cosmetic procedures, the Beverly Hills 90210 star wrote on Instagram, “Watching movies tonight and noticed there were few female characters I could relate to.

“You know, women without fillers, without Botox, without a facelift.”

The 50-year-old accompanied her post with a make-up free selfie, saying she’s learnt to embrace her face and loves that it shows she’s lived.

“I survived a lot yes, cancer, but more than that. I embrace me now. Finally. Done with the perception magazines and Hollywood try to make us in to. I want to see women like me. Women like us.”

Many of her followers agreed with the star, who’s been battling breast cancer on and off since 2015 and in February last year announced she was in stage 4 of the disease.

Despite the devastating diagnosis, she vowed to keep fighting. “Your life doesn’t end the minute we get that diagnosis. We still have some living to do.”

Shannen is still working and stars in the upcoming action film The Fortress, the first in a planned trilogy, opposite Bruce Willis, Chad Michael Murray and Jesse Metcalfe.

The film is set at a top-secret resort for retired US intelligence officers. When a group of criminals led by Murray’s character breach the compound, hellbent on revenge against a retiree (Willis), he and his son (Metcalfe) must save the day.

Since being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing a single mastectomy, Shannen has been open about her changing body and how she views herself.

In 2019 she told People magazine that once you’ve been though something so incredibly difficult your body never recovers.

“I’m trying to figure out how to accept who I am now,” she said at the time. “I’m never going to be the size I used to be. Some of my meds that I’m on keep zapping the collagen out of me, so I’m never going to have a wrinkle-free face. I’m critical of myself. But there are some things you can’t fight.”
