A man who raped three children was sentenced to three life sentences by
the Modimolle Magistrate's Court in Limpopo.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said Tinos Chimeze raped the girls in 2022 after luring them into his home with food and soft drinks.
Chimeze told a social worker that he only took care of the girls, aged between 8 and 11, and provided them with food. However, after interviewing the victims, the social worker established that Chimeze had raped them.
Prosecutor Mokhobedi Desiree Tlhoaela asked the court not to deviate from the prescribed minimum sentence of life imprisonment for the crimes.
Malabi-Dzhangi said:
The Limpopo Director of Public Prosecutions, Ivy Thenga, welcomed the sentence, saying it would deter others from committing similar crimes.
