A former Hawks officer whose father was murdered outside his home in Melkbosstrand, in the Western Cape, says he forgives the hitman allegedly hired by Nafiz Modack who he was investigating alleged asset finance fraud, the Western Cape High Court heard on Thursday.
Testifying in the trial of Modack and 14 others on a multitude of charges, including the hit on the officer's 74-year-old father Nicholaas Heerschap, Nico Heerschap said on the day of the murder he had cut his leave short to testify against Modack's bodyguard, Louis Visser.
He was on his way to court in his government vehicle, not the Toyota Land Cruiser he had been driving during his holiday.
