Twenty-four people were killed on Western Cape roads in the space of seven days last week, according to the provincial mobility department, and as many as 64 motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
More than half of the 24 people were pedestrians.
The figures were released on Monday, a fortnight after the long Easter weekend, during which 25 people were killed on Western Cape roads and seven people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
