While listening to DA leader John Steenhuisen's hysteria about opposition parties over the weekend, Qaanitah Hunter was reminded of a conversation she had with another political leader a year ago.

I had coffee with Corné Mulder from the Freedom Front Plus about a year ago.  

Having informal conversations with politicians is what we do as political writers so that we have our finger on the pulse. Sometimes, these coffees are rambling sessions for politicians, but other times, they serve as a good compass of what to look out for in our reportage.
