The influx of Chinese automakers in South Africa has made for a competitive market up to this point, and the pool of local brands just got bigger with the announcement that LDV will be launching their new range of vehicles – starting with the T60 bakkie.
Who is LDV, exactly? The brand originates from the United Kingdom, and its roots reach back to 1986. In 1987, it became known as Leyland DAF Vehicles and then to its current name - its registered brand name.
It is part of SAIC Motor, the largest vehicle manufacturer in China, and sells more than five million vehicles in China alone. It is also the owner of global brands MG, LDV and MAXUS.
