Having a hyperactive child can be both tiring and stressful. Fortunately, there are ways in which you can make things easier for yourself and your kid.
Take action:
Set rules, consequences and boundaries – write them down and stick the paper up in a place where the whole family can see it; set and maintain a routine; make sure that free time is scheduled into the routine and use this time for a trip to the park or for a favourite activity – give your child a chance to act naturally and free; teach your child deep breathing and relaxation techniques – this brings harmony to the nervous system and calms the brain; exercise as a family – this is an outlet for pent up and restless energy; praise and reward good behaviour; and seek professional help.
