Developers have officially launched the R750-million second phase of the Sandton Gate mixed-use precinct, in what is one of the largest commercial projects in SA's financial hub since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Central to the decision to launch the second phase in April is the return to office trend, as well as pent-up demand for new space that specifically provides restaurants and retail, says Abcon Developments, which is developing Sandton Gate in a joint venture with Tiber.

It also includes backup power generators such as solar as well as water storage facilities, with value-added infrastructure and services forming a key part of Sandton Gate's office and retail developments across its various planned phases. Located 5 minutes from the Sandton CBD, often called the richest square mile in Africa, it is close to Rosebank, Randburg, Bryanston and Hyde Park, and it has the tagline: "It's Sandton, but smarter."
