After a turbulent launch, Bolt's ride option in the Bajaj Qute compact quadricycle is showing steady growth, with the e-hailing giant also noting a decrease in violence in recent months.

Bolt introduced a lower-cost ride option in the Bajaj Qute, called Bolt Lite, in certain suburbs of Johannesburg in July last year. Technically, the Bajaj Qute is a compact quadricycle, not a car.

Drivers, who News24 spoke to at the time of the launch, said they had been busy from the get-go, the fuel efficiency of the vehicles was excellent, and they were excited to eventually own the vehicles through a rent-to-buy scheme.
