As Generations: The Legacy bids farewell to Ronnie Nyakale, who plays Cosmo Diale, and Muzi Mthabela, who plays Nkosiyabo Cele, both of whom will focus on other projects, the show will welcome Didintle Khunou, who will be playing Tumelo Gcabashe.

Khunou’s character is that of a dangerous criminal who shields her real character with her chief financial officer position at a law firm and high-powered financial expertise.

She told City Press that she had auditioned for the character because she had thought it was fascinating.

This character is different from what I have played before, which is exciting. I have never played a corporate criminal. I think what’s really fun about this character is that, on the outside, she looks innocent, like she would never hurt a fly, like a well-put-together professional; but inside she is a dangerous criminal, hard as nails, strong and brave. It has been an enjoyable experience for me to play the duality of looking innocent but deep down being bad and dirty.

The Soon Comes Night actress added that being with the show had so far been smooth because Generations: The Legacy was a well-oiled machine. She described the team as efficient.

The former Isono actress said she was honoured to be joining one of the longest-standing soapies in Mzansi. She had watched it while growing up and now getting to be part of it as a professional actress was a wonderful moment for her.

“I am excited for my character, Tumelo, and the storyline that she brings with her. It’s riveting and exciting. I think the Generations audience will be entertained by the heat that the storyline brings to the show,” she said.

Nyakale will still feature on the show until 28 August. According to a statement released by Generations: The Legacy, Nyakale is pursuing other avenues for creative expression.

Replying to questions sent by City Press, the man of not so many words, Nyakale said:

I’ve been wishing for doors to open so that there is room for growth. This break is perfect for that growth.

Questions sent to Mthabela through the SABC publicist had not been answered by the time of publishing. His character will exit the show on 5 June.

Meanwhile, this week, Mzansi Magic announced that Mthabela would be joining My Brother's Keeper season 2 as Mqondisi Shabalala from next month.
